The J/DM Newsletter welcomes submissions from individuals and groups. However, we do not publish substantive papers. Book reviews will be published. If you are interested in reviewing books and related materials, please write to the editor.
There are few ground rules for submissions. The best way to send your contribution is via EMAIL or in an ASCII file on a 3.5" or 5.25" diskette. If you must send hard-copy (e.g., if you are using special graphics or do not have computer access), please submit camera-ready copy. This means that the copy should be typed single-spaced on white 8 1/2 by 11 paper. If possible, use a carbon or film ribbon. Please mail flat -- do not fold.
Advertising Rates: Advertising can be submitted to the editor. Inclusion of the ad and the space given to the ad is at the editor's discretion. The current charge is $100 per page to cover production and mailing costs. Contact Shawn Curley for details. Alternatively, you can use--
Mailing Labels: Some readers may wish to send reprint lists or other material to people listed in the directory. The current charge is $125 for a set of labels. Contact Colleen Moore for details. A diskette of the database is available for one-time use. The charge is $50 for commercial use, $25 for nonprofit use
Address corrections: Please check your mailing label carefully. Because the J/DM Newsletter is usually sent by bulk mail, copies with incorrect addresses or which are otherwise undeliverable are neither forwarded nor returned. Therefore, we have no way of knowing if copies are delivered. Address changes or corrections should be sent to Colleen Moore.
Subscriptions: Subscriptions are available on a calendar year basis only. Requests for information concerning membership in the Society for Judgment and Decision Making should be sent to Colleen Moore.
All members are urged to vote in this election for a new Executive Board member. Recall that because of a tie in last year's election, Irwin Levin will begin serving as President-Elect this year, and there is no election process for president this year. For details, see the minutes in the December 1996 issue of the Newsletter. The person elected to the Executive Board will serve a three-year term, 1998-2000. Current officers of the society are listed on Page 2 of this newsletter.

SOCIAL EVENT
Saturday night, November 22, a visit to the Franklin Institute Science Museum

Eight robot animals and plenty of hands-on interactives illustrate how real animals achieve amazing feats. How does a chameleon change color? How can a fly walk on a ceiling? "The Robot Zoo" offers the answers.
The feature Omnimax film will be shown at 8 pm. The movie is "Alaska: Spirit of the Wild," and is followed by a short movie about Philadelphia: "Symphony Philadelphia." The Omniverse Theater within the science museum uses a four-story, domed screen with fifty-six speakers to display the films. Behavioral Decision Research in Management Miami, Florida, USA June 19-21, 1998
The Seventh BDRM conference will be held at the University of Miami School of Business Administration and Biltmore Luxury Hotel and Resort. The theme of the conference is original research in decision making with application to business including accounting, economics, finance, management, management science, marketing, organization behavior, and strategy. This conference continues the series of biannual meetings previously held at Cornell, Texas, Chicago, Wharton, Berkeley, and MIT. This year's confirmed invited speakers include Max Bazerman and Dick Thaler. Program committee members include Colin Camerer, Chip Heath, Don Kleinmuntz, George Loewenstein, Barbara Kahn, Itamar Simonson, Michal Strahilevitz, and Frank Yates.
The conference hotel, the Biltmore Luxury Resort, is registered with the federal government as a national historical landmark. The resort features amazing Spanish architecture, a tennis center, a gorgeously landscaped 18 hole golf course, a state of the art gym, and the largest hotel swimming pool in the continental United States!
Interested participants are invited to submit either individual abstracts of 200 words or less or special session proposals. We especially encourage the submission of special session proposals! Special session proposals should be limited to 3-4 abstracts and 1-2 pages discussing the theme of the special session. Ideally, special sessions should include either 3 papers and a discussant, or 4 papers and no discussant. However, under special circumstances, double sessions consisting of 5-7 papers can also be arranged. Each submission should include the name, affiliation, department name, address, telephone #, fax # and email address of each of the authors. For papers that have multiple authors, please also underline the name of the individual(s) who will actually be presenting the paper. For individual abstracts you should also provide 3-6 key words that can be used to group these abstracts into special sessions. This year's conference will also include a poster session. Those interested in presenting a poster should indicate this interest along with their abstract(s).
The deadline for all submissions is January 2, 1998. Presenters will be notified whether their abstracts have been selected by March 15, 1998.
